Every K-pop fan knows that new music doesn’t just come with a song and video, but loads of different content to keep you hooked for weeks. MCND knows that too and the rising boy band is bringing fans a new video focused on the choreography performances of their recently released single “Spring.”
Premiering exclusively on Billboard first, the performance video for “Spring” allows for a deeper look at the quintet’s fun and feel-good choreography that’s paired with their new single that speaks to their larger plans as a group. “‘Spring,’ is a song about our ambition to rise high with us and our fans who support us,” MCND’s leader and main rapper Castle J explains to Billboard. “I participated in writing the lyrics and I think the points are the bubbly melody, the addictive and positive lyrics, and the members you can hear laughing and enjoying recording the song.”
“When you listen to the overall melody, you can feel that it’s a bright and refreshing song, and the powerful rap elevates the mood even higher,” adds the group’s lead vocalist Huijin. “While the song means to ‘spring’ up into the sky with the fans, it also goes well with the spring season so please stay watching us this spring!”
The newest group produced from K-pop label TOP Media that has produced Billboard-charting acts like Teen Top, Up10tion and Niel, MCND says that there are several important parts in their performance for fans to look out for while viewing their just-released visual.
The group’s main dancer BIC points out the refrain as an easy place for viewers to start. “There’s a part in the refrain where we put our hands up and I think fans can follow it easily and have fun with that part.” Vocalist-dancer Minjae chooses to emphasize a move they’ve named “We’re Going to Keep You Safe” where the members dance as if they’re putting their shoulders around someone next to them on the chorus. “It means that we will safely take care of all the fans who support us,” while BIC adds, “we’re going to bring you to the sky safely.”
Youngest member Win points to the lyrics “put your hands up and lift it up!” saying, “it’s an impressive choreography that many people can easily follow. He adds that he sees the new song “Spring” representing “a fast-growing MCND becoming an airplane or a spaceship and going up into the sky without hesitation.”
With nearly four million views on MCND’s original video of “Spring” since its April 9 release, no doubt this promising and impressive rookie act is on its way to reaching sky-high heights. Check out the full “Spring” visual below after watching the performance video:
