McDonald’s expanded its DVD rental kiosk test over the July 4 three-day weekend, adding machine to store locations in Nevada, Utah and Wyoming.
Each kiosk, handled by McDonald’s subsidiary Redbox, feature about 500 titles that can be rented for $1 a night via a debit or credit card, and can be returned to any kiosk location. Consumers can keep the title if it has not been returned after 25 nights. Redbox reports that it plans to deploy 1,200 kiosks by the end of the year.
Last year, the kiosk concept was tested at 100 McDonald’s stores in the Denver area. It is unknown how many new machines are in the marketplace.
