Texas-bred roots musician Delbert McClinton will let fans in on one of his personal favorite concert recordings with the release of the two-CD set “Live,” due Oct. 21 on New West Records.
“Live” was recorded in late April at the Ole Blues Festival in Bergen, Norway, and broadcast live on Norwegian radio. It features 19 songs, including “Giving It Up for Your Love,” “Old Weakness,” “Leap of Faith,” “B-Movie Box Car Blues,” “I Wanna Love You” and “Livin’ It Down.”
“We’ve recorded several shows but this one came out the best,” McClinton says in a statement.
“The folks in Bergen had great equipment, great engineers, and as it so happened we had a really great night. It sounds live, and I like that. And the band is over-the-top great on it!”
The set will be McClinton’s third live album. Other songs featured on the collection are the blues standards pastiche “Rebecca Rebecca,” the Otis Redding song “Dreams To Remember” and the Billy “The Kid” Emerson cover “A Fine & Healthy Thing.”
McClinton’s most recent album “Room To Breathe,” which debuted last October at No. 84 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 118,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.
