We all know that sometimes sh-t goes down when there’s a billion dollars in an elevator — but according to Beyonce and Solange’s father, Mathew Knowles, the Beyonce/Jay Z drama this summer was orchestrated by the couple like a “Jedi mind trick.”
A chatty Knowles stopped by Houston’s Roula and Ryan Show to talk about his daughters’ tabloid-filled summer. When the hosts brought up the infamous elevator incident, Knowles implied it was just for publicity. “[They needed something to] ignite that tour. It’s called a Jedi mind trick. Later in the clip, he reminded everyone that while he was no longer Beyonce’s manager, he still was the manager of Destiny’s Child — and even heavily implied that the women would tour together again within the next year. While that sounds incredible, this is likely a case of Mathew saying things he wished were true.
Clearly, all of these revelations should be taken with a huge grain of salt (like, a whole salt shaker). Life is But A Dream, Beyonce’s documentary, started with Beyonce firing her dad as manager, alluding to his personal life as the reason. Mathew and Tina Knowles got divorced in 2010 after one of his affairs allegedly resulted in a child. While no one knows exactly what Beyonce’s personal life is really like, it doesn’t appear that she has maintained a close relationship with her father these past couple years.
