Mat Zo might have “Bad Posture,” but he can sit however he wants if he’s going to keep making funk-house music like this. The lead single from his forthcoming three-track This Is a Mad Zoo House EP is a modern twist on late-’90s disco-house. It’s reminiscent of Homework-era Daft Punk or classic Fatboy Slim, with cool samples, playful dynamics and just enough stutter in the beat for a pimp walk.
The story behind the name is pretty funny.
“This track is called ‘Bad Posture’ because my girlfriend kept coming in and telling me to sit up straight while I was working on it,” Zo tweets. Sounds like he’s in a fun place.
“Bad Posture” is a fabulous sign of even more fantastic things to come. This Is a Mad Zoo House drops in full Thursday, June 11.
