Rapper Master P and his brother were ordered yesterday (Feb. 27) to stand trial on weapons charges stemming from their arrest last year in Los Angeles, after police said they found loaded handguns in their car.
Master P, whose real name is Percy Miller, and his brother Vyshonn Miller, also a rapper who uses the stage name Silkk the Shocker, each face one count of carrying an unregistered and loaded gun.
Superior Court Judge Joseph Biderman said there was enough evidence for both men, who are free on bail, to stand trial. Each faces a maximum sentence of three years in prison if convicted.
Master P is the father of teen rap star Lil’ Romeo, and the two star in the Nickelodeon TV show “Romeo!” He also appeared on the latest season of ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars.”
The brothers were arrested on January 27, 2005, after University of California at Los Angeles police pulled them over. Prosecutors say the officers noticed a handgun under the driver’s seat of the car, which was being driven by Vyshonn Miller. Police said they found another handgun on the passenger seat, where Master P was sitting.
