Marvel has seen many different sort of superheros over the years, but now there’s a new addition to the mix with the K-pop star known as Luna Snow.
A new character created for Marvel Games and Netmarble’s Future Fight video game, Luna Snow is a part-time K-pop star, part-time hero. She is the second original character born out of the game, and was introduced on Friday (Jan. 12) through a short teaser video that revealed Luna Snow’s costume and a short clip of her singing “Tonight,” which features the character singing in both Korean and English.
An article posted to Marvel’s website revealed that Luna Snow was developed in response to audiences requesting characters that are more culturally diverse and that fit into Marvel’s universe in an authentic way.
According to her backstory, Luna Snow, also known as Seol Hee, lost her parents and pursued a career as a K-pop star with the desire to take care of her elderly grandmother who raised her. After she was exposed to “an advanced cold-fusion energy experiment” while defending innocent people, Seol Hee gained control over frozen elements. The character was “designed with modern K-pop culture in mind” and features a snow-and-ice inspired two-toned outfit featuring icicle motifs.
“While Luna Snow began her career as a K-pop artist, she is expressed as a strong, charismatic, and sophisticated female warrior in our game,” said Art Director Jee-Hyung Lee.
The Luna Snow character won’t be available for game play on Marvel’s Future Fight until Jan. 24, but you can watch her teaser video here:
