Martina McBride and Train front man Pat Monahan will duet on her latest single “Marry Me” at the Academy of Country Music Awards’ first-ever wedding ceremony on April 1.
The Kansas-born singer handpicked Christina Davidson and Frank Tucci for the opportunity to say, “I do,” on the 47th Annual ACM stage. Along with making history at the awards, the wedding will mark a new chapter for the couple who say they thought they would never find love again.
They first met at a support group Davidson started for young widows and widowers following the death of her husband, Paul, in a tragic drowning accident in 2009. Tucci lost his wife, Danielle, to thyroid cancer that same year and began attending the support group. Their shared struggle and friendship created a bond that led to love for the New Jersey pair.
McBride adapted Train’s 2010 single, “Marry Me,” from their fifth studio album, “Save Me, San Francisco.” The song has become a favorite for couples to play while reciting their marriage vows.
McBride and Monahan join previously announced performers Jason Aldean, Tim McGraw, Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, the Band Perry and Lady Antebellum.
The 47th Annual ACM Awards air April 1 at 8 p.m. on CBS.
