Trans World Entertainment has appointed Martin Hanaka, interim chief executive officer of Guitar Center, Inc., to its board of directors. According to a press release, Hanaka previously served on the company’s board from 1998 to 2009.
“Marty Hanaka brings extensive retail experience and a history of strong leadership to the Company’s Board of Directors,” commented Robert J. Higgins, chairman and chief executive officer of Trans World Entertainment. “His experience and knowledge makes him an important addition to our team. I am pleased to have Marty back on our Board and look forward to working with him.”
Before joining Guitar Center, Inc. and now Trans World Entertainment, Hanaka served as chairman and chief executive officer at Sports Authority, Inc. and Golfsmith International Holdings. Before that, he was president and chief operating officer at Staples, Inc.
