If you’ve learned anything from modern pop and hip-hop, it’s that money makes people act differently, names aren’t really important, and nights are made for getting absolutely smashed.
These are the tenants of a good half of the songs on top 40 radio, and the dance world lives by these creeds as well. Martin Garrix‘ side project with Detroit-based producer/rapper/singer Maejor is called AREA21, and the duo has put itself squarely at the intersection of these worlds. Of course the interstellar act plays up Millennial party-nihilism in its latest single “Glad You Came.”
Really, it’s not so much about what the lyrics are saying as the general vibe the song puts into the world, and that’s a vibe that demands you shake your butt and forget about whatever pesky important things keep nagging your unconscious.
“Glad You Came” follows the duo’s debut “We Did It.” It’s a big day for Garrix, who also dropped “So Far Away,” his collaboration with David Guetta. Listen to “Glad You Came” below, out now on STMPD RCRDS.
