Flanked by his manager Scooter Braun and his label rep, Spinnin’s Eelko van Kooten, Martin Garrix held a press conference today (March 26) at Miami’s Nikki Beach club to discuss his upcoming projects including a recently recorded collaboration with Ed Sheeran.
While Garrix says he still needs to complete the track and others from his management team said it still needed clearance from Sheeran’s label Atlantic, it would mark the first pop vocal release for the 17-year-old producer.
Garrix and his team answered other questions about his future, which includes, as previously reported, a steady stream of singles throughout the year. As for specific strategy beyond festival gigs and singles, they demurred, with Braun joking, “We have a plan. I’m just not going to tell you.”
Pushed by Casablanca Records/Republic Records who signed a North American deal with Garrix late last year, radio play for “Animals” is largely to thank for its crossover success, despite it being an instrumental house track without a topline.
