Marshmello and Juicy J together? That must be a wild bunch of bass, right? Not exactly. The squishy producer and the double-cup rapper actually created a bit of a love ballad, and they tapped James Arthur for the falsetto chorus. It’s not what you may have expected, but they’re probably hoping the ladies love it.
“You Can Cry” is technically a song about having someone to love and care for you, which in this case is Juicy J letting you know “you can have anything you want.” Arthur sings whispers about how “all the pain is finally over,” and it’s alright to let all these pent-up single emotions flow.
It’s an interesting move. The best part of the song is when Juicy J cops his flow from Vince Staples’ “Big Fish.” The single is out now on Columbia via Marshmello’s Joytime collective. Listen to “You Can Cry” below.
