Launched last week with a performance from Dave Matthews, Verizon’s weekly streaming series Pay It Forward continues Tuesday night (March 31) with Marshmello and Nate Hill of the gaming collective FaZe Clan.
The duo will play Fortnite during the 45-minute event, which will stream live at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on Twitch, on Twitter @verizon, Yahoo Entertainment and on Fios Channel 501. The event will raise awareness of the importance of supporting small businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic, with Marshmello and Hill surprising “some of their favorite local businesses” during the event, according to a press release. Users will be encouraged to use the #PayItForwardLIVE hashtag to unlock funds from Verizon to support small businesses on Twitch and Twitter.
“So many of us have been affected by the COVID-19 virus, and now more than ever we need to stand together and help each other. I’m proud to be teaming up with Verizon & Nate Hill to help small businesses,” Marshmello is quoted in a press release. “As a musician a lot of my business is supported by the men and women in local communities and their businesses who help bring shows and festivals to life and who are now out of work for an unknown amount of time. Let’s Pay It Forward and help them now!”
“The COVID-19 virus has taken a toll on many of us, small businesses especially,” Hill continues. “I am proud FaZe Clan is teaming up with Verizon to help small businesses in need. As a gamer, I rely on these companies like local restaurants for food every day. I am honored to take part in the Pay It Forward initiative alongside Marshmello and help those in need.”
Additional performers for Pay It Forward will be announced in the coming weeks.
