Mark your calendars, candy kids. Marshmello‘s sophomore album Joytime II is officially slated for full release this Friday (June 22).
The masked DJ and producer has released two tracks from the LP; “Tell Me” and “Check This Out” both live up to Marshmello’s promise of a return to day one sounds. Both are bright and bouncy beat-driven tunes that use vocals as window dressing rather than front-and-center displays. Trap beats explode in rainbows of colors, much like the Joytime debut.
The original Joytime debuted in early January of 2016 and peaked at No. 5 on the Hot Dance/Electronic Albums chart. Marshmello’s mainstream appeal has since exploded thanks to crossover hits including “Wolves” with Selena Gomez, “Everyday” with Logic and “Friends” with Anne-Marie.
Will Joytime II make a big opening week splash on the Billboard 200? Stay tuned to find out.
