Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine has joined the cast of entertainers that have made videos for columnist Dan Savage’s video project “It Gets Better,” made to encourage gay teens who are bullied to stay strong under difficult circumstances.

In the video, Levine shines a light on the harassment that goes on in high schools and how life gets better after the experience. “I hated High School but if you can get through it there’s a whole world that exists beyond people treating you badly,” Levine said.
Along with Levine’s video, Neil Patrick Harris, Ke$ha, Jason Derulo, Perez Hilton and others have made videos for the “It Gets Better” campaign.

Savage started the project after a string of truly tragic LGBT-related suicides, most prominently 15-year-old Billy Lucas, who was severely bullied before committing suicide. As the world focuses more on the repercussions of bullying, projects like this can help individuals make it through the hard times.
