Maroon 5 called off its concert in Daegu, South Korea, about two hours before it was scheduled to start over the weekend, due to vocalist Adam Levine’s “health problems,” according to local concert organizer Live Nation Korea. The two performances slated to take place in Seoul this coming Monday and Thursday, however, will be held as planned.
Rumors began circulating that Levine suffered a car accident in Korea after the singer posted an Instagram photo of himself wearing a neck brace, along with the message, “Hey guys sorry we had to reschedule… See you Thursday!” Organizers, however, confirmed that this was not true, and was due to “neck muscle issues” unrelated to any accident here.

“The artists and staff tried very hard to prepare for [the concert this past Saturday] until the day before on Friday, but it seemed problematic to proceed with the show given vocalist Adam Levine’s neck muscle issues,” Live Nation Korea said in a statement. (A/N: In the Korean language, the same word is generally used to describe both “neck” and “throat.” A rep could not be reached to confirm if Levine’s health concern was instead connected to throat issues).

All tickets for the Saturday concert are being refunded, said organizers, which Maroon 5 confirmed via Twitter: “We are very sorry to postpone tonight’s show in Daegu until THURSDAY 10 SEPTEMBER. All tickets will be honored.”
Meanwhile, the band was supposed to give only one concert in Daegu and one in Seoul but had added a second performance in the capital city due to requests by Korean fans. Tickets for the two initial shows got sold out in five minutes when advanced online sales began. Maroon 5 has always had a strong fan base in Korea, and the film Begin Again starring Levine in a lead role was hugely successful, with local box-office sales surpassing that in the U.S. and breaking several domestic records.

The concert, as part of the band’s world tour for its latest fifth album V, will take place at 8 p.m. (Korea Standard Time), Monday and Wednesday at Seoul Olympic Park, and at 8 p.m., Thursday, at Daegu Stadium.
