Maroon 5 has struck an exclusive, global administration deal with Kobalt Music Group, Billboard can reveal.
Through the arrangement, Kobalt will represent the band for all of their new works, including their next album. The independent music company will also provide creative services and sync licensing worldwide for music use in film, TV, advertising, games, and other media.
Led by Adam Levine, Maroon 5 has developed into one of the world’s most reliable hitmaking groups over the last decade, with a slew of radio smashes spread over four full-length albums.
Back in July, guitarist James Valentine told Billboard the follow-up to 2012’s platinum “Overexposed” was moving along. The album was “in the early stages,” though a batch of “darker songs” had emerged.
On the new deal, Kobalt president Richard Sanders says: “As one of the most popular acts in the world, Maroon 5 have such a broad range of musical talents and have mastered the art of crafting great songs that resonate with audiences worldwide. We’re thrilled to be representing the band and look forward to a long relationship together.”
