For the second week in a row, Mario’s “Let Me Love You” is No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100. As the 2004 calendar year comes to a close, the hit song is also enjoying a second week atop Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks, Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay and Rhythmic Airplay charts.
Ciara’s “1, 2 Step” featuring Missy Elliott moves up one to No. 2, trading places with Snoop Dogg’s “Drop It Like It’s Hot” featuring Pharrell. The latter, however, remains No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Rap Tracks list for a 10th week.
Averaging one slot per week, Lil Jon & the East Side Boyz’ “Lovers and Friends” continues its steady ascent towards the top of the Hot 100. This week’s 5-4 move pushes Destiny’s Child’s “Soldier” featuring T.I. and Lil Wayne down one, that track’s first fall on the tally since its debut seven weeks ago.
Usher and Alicia Keys’ “My Boo” holds at No. 6 for a second week, as Nelly’s “Over and Over” featuring Tim McGraw also logs a second week at No. 7. Ja Rule’s “Wonderful” featuring Ashanti is No. 8 for a fourth week and 50 Cent’s “Disco Inferno” breaks into the top 10 ranks with a 11-9 move.
Despite a 9-10 drop, Destiny’s Child’s “Lose My Breath” is the Hot 100’s fastest growing retail title, while the Game’s “How We Do It,” up 16-13 this week, is the chart’s fastest growing track at radio.
John Legend’s “Ordinary People” leads this week’s Hot 100 debuts at No. 73. The neo soul singer’s just released full-length, “Get Lifted” (Sony Urban Music/Columbia), is expected on The Billboard 200 next week.
Also new to the Hot 100 are Maroon5’s “Sunday Morning” at No. 75, Snoop Dogg’s “Let’s Get Blown” at No. 76, Akon’s “Ghetto” at No. 95 and the Alchemist’s “Hold You Down” featuring Prodigy, Illa Ghee and Nina Sky at No. 99.
Green Day’s “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” remains in the lead on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Tracks, where it moved to No. 1 last week, and starts a fifth week on top of the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart.
Blake Shelton is on Billboard’s Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart for a third week with “Some Beach.”
