The R&B singer Mario was arrested in Baltimore this morning (Oct. 1) for allegedly assaulting his mother in their shared apartment, a spokesperson for the city police department has confirmed to Billboard.com.
According to the police report, Shawntia Hardaway told officers that her son, whose full name is Mario Dewar Barrett, had been “throwing and damaging property,” “pushed her in the chest and shoulder area,” and then again “pushed her very hard [approximately] eight feet into a living room wall.”
When asked by police on the scene whether she feared for her life in connection with her son’s actions, Hardaway replied “yes,” according to the report.
TMZ, who was the first to report on the incident, says Mario was arrested for second degree assault and released on $50,000 bond.
