Over the past 10 days, a trio of divas have unleashed can’t-miss visuals for their latest musical offerings, with varying degrees of ferocity flaunted in each clip. These new videos — for Katy Perry’s “Dark Horse,” Mariah Carey’s “You’re Mine (Eternal)” and Nicki Minaj’s “Lookin’ Ass N—a” — all want to make their case as the best music video of February; but which one is the cream of the YouTube crop?
Vote now in the poll below to tell us which pop star — Mariah, Katy or Nicki — has released the greatest music video of the month:
Katy Perry’s “Dark Horse” clip arrives just as the single celebrates its fourth week atop the Hot 100 chart, after the Juicy J-assisted cut became the singer’s ninth No. 1 single on the tally. Its accompanying clip mixes the culture of ancient Egypt with Perry’s brand of goofball charm — there’s a hydraulics-laden carriage, some flamin’-hot Cheetos, and a man turned into sand simply for trying to impress Katy Patra.
Meanwhile, Mariah Carey’s video for “You’re Mine (Eternal)” harkens back to the jungle setting of Perry’s “Roar” visual, with the legendary diva singing the praises of her boo while surrounded by vines and babbling brooks. The single debuted at No. 88 on this week’s Hot 100 chart, and previews Carey’s long-delayed next album, due out in May.
Finally, Nicki Minaj returned in grand fashion last week with the tenacious track “Lookin’ Ass N—a,” presumably from her third studio album. Taking aim at rumors and haters with machine guns, Minaj spends the black-and-white clip demonstrating her dominance as she prepares to enter the next phase of her career.
