Mariah Carey checked herself into an undisclosed hospital last night (July 25) suffering from “extreme exhaustion,” according to her label, Virgin Records. MTV says Carey has pulled out of “MTV20: Live and Almost Legal,” the anniversary event she was due to headline Aug. 1 in New York.
“After completing two movies, ‘Glitter’ and ‘WiseGirls,’ while simultaneously writing, recording and producing her newest album, the soundtrack ‘Glitter,’ Mariah checked herself into a hospital late last night,” reads a statement on Carey’s official Web site.
The soundtrack’s first single, “Loverboy” featuring Da Brat and Ludacris, rocketed 60-2 on The Billboard Hot 100 this week and hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart. The “Glitter” album is due Aug. 21 in North America; the film of the same name, in which she stars, will open Aug. 31 in U.S. theaters.
