When Coyote Ugly came out in 2000, the fast-talking rom com about a musician/bartender working in one of New York’s rowdiest dives had a soundtrack just as compelling as the movie.
Leann Rimes made an appearance in the final moments of the film to sing the lead single from the flick, “Can’t Fight the Moonlight,” and the hit would eventually peak at No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the weeks following Coyote Ugly‘s debut.
This is all to say the music is a huge part of Coyote Ugly‘s story and its lasting appeal — and Maren Morris totally gets it, which is why she’s into the idea of a reboot with her at the soundtrack’s helm.
The country star/”The Middle” singer threw the idea out there on Twitter on Saturday (May 5), with fans immediately hopping in her mentions to dream-cast the rest of the picture. Hopefully, Hollywood is listening.
Film idea: Reboot Coyote Ugly and can I please write all the songs for the soundtrack?
