CMT’s Artist of the Year celebration is featuring an all-female roster for the first time ever. Among the night’s performances will be honoree Maren Morris’ tribute to the late Aretha Franklin alongside Brandi Carlile.
The songstress took to Twitter on Wednesday (Oct. 3) to announce the news. “Cat’s outta the bag! I’m so incredibly honored to tribute the late Aretha Franklin with @brandicarlile at Artist of the Year,” she wrote. “Don’t miss it!”

Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Kelsea Ballerini, Karen Fairchild and Kimberly Schlapman of Little Big Town and Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott will also be honored at the 2018 special, which airs Oct. 17 at 8 p.m. E.T./P.T. on CMT.
Underwood’s will take the stage with her Cry Pretty tour mates and CMT Next Women of Country, Maddie & Tae and Runaway June. Scott will collaborate with Tori Kelly and Grammy-winning gospel artist, Kirk Franklin. Ballerini will team up with Alison Krauss, and soul legend Gladys Knight will sing with Fairchild and Schlapman.
More performances will be announced in the weeks to come.
