If there was ever a time when humanity required a collective pep talk, this is it.
On Thursday (April 16), Major Lazer and Marcus Mumford delivered the aural embrace we’re all craving with a very pretty, very acoustic version of the duo’s recent collaboration, “Lay Your Head on Me.”
In the video, Mumford practices social distancing while performing with just a guitar and a microphone. This pared-down version demonstrates that when stripped of the original’s tropical-folk-inspired beats, “Lay Your Head on Me” is very much a Mumford & Sons song. Turn it up, close your eyes, and let it comfort you. Seriously. You’re going to want to go ahead and do that.
Mumford also performed the song acoustically from his house on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon earlier this month. Meanwhile, this is the second Major Lazer-related release of the week, with the trio dropping an edit of The Weeknd‘s “Blinding Lights” this past Monday.
