With three awards to his name, tropical star Marc Anthony was the big winner at the 16th annual Premios Lo Nuestro awards, held last night (Feb. 26) at the Miami Arena in Miami.
Anthony won for best male artist, song of the year (for “Barco a la Deriva” from the 2001 Sony album “Libre”) and salsa performer of the year in the tropical category.
Second in number of wins, with two awards each, were grupero star Marco Antonio Solís, merenguera Olga Tañón, new regional Mexican band La Onda, El General, Juanes and Kumbia Kings. Ricardo Arjona won for pop album of the year with “Santo Pecado” (Juanes). A special Excellence Award was given to Ricky Martin, who also performed at the show.
Premios Lo Nuestro, produced by the Univision Network, aired live nationwide.
