
With four awards, including Tropical album of the year for 3.0, tropical song of the year for “Vivir mi vida” and tropical salsa artist of the year, Marc Anthony was the lead winner at the 2014 Premio Lo Nuestro Awards, which aired live on the Univision network Feb. 20.
Anthony, who performed a medley of hits, including Vivir Mi Vida, also received a special Excellence Award for his career trajectory.
Following Anthony in number of wins was were the late Jenni Rivera, regional Mexican singer/songwriter Gerardo Ortiz and urban bachata star Prince Royce, whose nods included Premios Lo Nuestro Artist of the year.
Winners to Univision’s annual Premios Lo Nuestro awards are voted on by fans.
Performances for the evening included premieres of new singles by Luis Fonsi (whose single “Corazón en la maleta” also premiered on Univision radio), Jencarlos Canela (who debuted his single “Irreparable”) and Marco Antonio Solís (who performed “De mil amores”). Enrique Iglesias also sang two new singles, including “I’m a Freak” with Pitbull, who was also there to give Anthony his Excellence award. Other notable performers included Romeo Santos, who sang singles “Odio” and “Propuesta indecente,” and whose new album, “Formula, Vol. 2,” is due out on Tuesday, while Daddy Yankee premiered new single “La nueva y la ex” and also got a special “Youth” award.
Premios Lo Nuestro took place at Miami’s AmericanAirlines Arena.
