Representatives for Lily Allen have played down reports claiming the British pop star had her U.S. visa canceled after being detained at a Los Angeles airport.
Allen’s manager Neale Easterby, of Empire Management, confirmed the artist had been held in customs, but dismissed claims that she had been denied entry into America.
“It’s rubbish. There’s no story; it’s all good,” Easterby tells Billboard.com. “She’s in Las Vegas right now, and she will be there until Thursday shooting a video with Common and Kanye West” for Common’s track “Drivin’ Me Wild.” Allen had flown in to the U.S. from Australia, where she had wrapped a tour.
Easterby confirms Allen was held up in U.S. customs “for a few hours” for an undisclosed issue. “She’ll go back in September for her own U.S. West Coast dates,” adds Easterby. “It’s all going to be sorted out.”
Allen is booked for a series of European and South American summer festival and headlining dates, before embarking on a U.S. stint beginning Sept. 6 at the House of Blues in San Diego.
In the U.S., Allen’s Capitol debut, “Alright, Still,” has sold 374,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
