Maná, the biggest-selling or -touring Latin rock act in the world, joins Britney Spears as the only artists to headline eight concerts at Staples Center.
The band, which sold out four shows in Los Angeles at Staples June 23-26, will also equal their own record for the longest show run at arena by a Latin act. This makes the Mexican band the only act in the world to have four consecutive shows at the concert facility regardless of language.
“Maná is a cross cultural musical phenomenon in Southern California,” said Randy Phillips, president and CEO of AEG Live, in a prepared statement. “The speed and amount of tickets sold for the shows at STAPLES Center is astonishing.”
When tickets went on sale in April for the “Drama y Luz” tour, Maná sold more than 100,000 tickets for the first leg of the tour in one day, according to Angelo Medina, the band’s manager.
Their first tour in five years, the band in March released their fifth studio album “Drama y Luz.” The CD’s first single “Lluvia Al Corazon” shot to No. 1 on Billboard’s Nielsen BDS-based Latin Songs radio airplay chart.
After Los Angeles, the band continues touring through San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, Miami, Orlando, Atlanta, Washington D.C., Newark, Boston, Chicago and various cities in Spain. For more on Maná, go to mana.com.mx.
