Today (Jun. 15), Major Lazer head back to their dancehall and Caribbean roots with a dub-heavy beat on “Let Me Love,” a collaboration with “Friends” singer Anne-Marie, Nigerian singer Mr. Eazi and U.K. drum’n’bass icons Rudimental.
“Let Me Live” is more sweet and easy than breakneck, though there’s plenty of switch-up in its rhythm to explore. Anne-Marie’s raspberry vocals are perfect as she pleads for independence. The tune works itself into a funky climax right up to the end.
Major Lazer has threatened to work on a new album for some time now, though there is still no official word on when that might come to fruition. Maybe “Let Me Live” is a message to fans to take things as they come. It’s certainly easygoing enough to forgive a hold up.
It’s out everywhere on Mad Decent and Asylum Records. Check it out below.
