Madonna is set to appear on Thursday night’s (June 9) The Tonight Show, where she will perform on an episode that will also feature the first appearance by the sitting commander-in-chief on the show when President Obama has a chat with host Jimmy Fallon. On Wednesday, she posted a picture of her backstage encounter with Obama, in which the global superstar was pretty covered up (for her) and looked deferential, confirming her nervousness with the caption, “for once I’m speechless.”
Madonna to Join President Obama on ‘The Tonight Show’
The singer last appeared on the show in April 2015 to perform “Bitch I’m Madonna” with an elaborate dance routine after performing “Holiday” with classroom instruments and trying her hand at stand-up comedy. “Where else besides The Tonight Show and New York City can you have the President and the Queen on one show?” host Jimmy Fallon said in a statement.
During his two terms, Obama has made appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, David Letterman’s Late Show, The Daily Show and The Colbert Report, but has yet to visit Fallon on his Tonight Show. First Lady Michelle Obama has also joined Fallon for several sketches on the late-night show, including the “Evolution of Mom Dancing.”
The president seemed pretty psyched too.
