The stars of ABC’s “Rising Star” were on hand to discuss the upcoming TV sing-off on the red carpet of the Billboard Music Awards. Billboard caught up with the unlikely, genre-hopping cast comprised of Brad Paisley, Josh Groban, Kesha and Ludacris. Watch:
“Your career will either live or die in one song on this show,” Kesha says. “America is watching. America is voting. It’s insane pressure. I don’t wish it on anyone. But I’m really excited to watch it.”
Ludacris adds that some contestants may have to whip up song remixes on the spot in order to avoid getting the ax.
But what about a collaboration from the “Rising Star” crew?

“I think she’s been craving a nice baritone, operatic voice,” Groban says trying to imagine what a collaboration with Kesha would sound like.
“We all respect each other a great deal artistically,” Groban proclaims. “I always like to expect the unexpected.”
“Rising Star” premieres June 22 on ABC. During performances, viewers vote via an app to decide which singers advance in competition. It’s the first TV singing competition to let the audience have the final say in real time.
