Courtney Love pleaded not guilty today (Nov. 10) in Los Angeles to a felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon, stemming from a confrontation with a woman at her ex-boyfriend’s house.
Love, 40, entered her plea before Superior Court Judge Terry Green. She is scheduled to return to court for a Dec. 15 pretrial hearing, according to a district attorney’s office spokesperson. A trial likely would not start until next year.
The felony charge is related to an April 25 incident at the home of Love’s former boyfriend. Love allegedly found a 32-year-old woman inside sleeping on a sofa and threw a liquor bottle at her and chased her with a flashlight.
Love has remained free on $150,000 bail. The assault case is one of several legal problems involving Love, the former lead singer for Hole and the widow of Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain.
She pleaded guilty last month in New York to disorderly conduct for striking an audience member in the head with a microphone during a concert. Love also pleaded guilty earlier this year to a misdemeanor drug charge and agreed to enter a drug rehabilitation program.
The singer still faces two felony drug charges in Beverly Hills Superior Court for alleged illegal possession of painkillers.
