A great song is great no matter how you play it, and Louis The Child struck gold with Wafia on “Better Not.” The summer smash that asks us not to waste true love keeps climbing the charts. It’s the duo’s biggest hit to date and currently sits at No. 14 on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart (dated Aug. 4), but what if we added some strings?
The baby-faced boys hit the studio with Wafia in tow to perform and record an acoustic version. It’s just a piano, a guitar, Wafia’s voice and a casual string quartet. “Better Not” has never sounded so cinematic. It’s powerfully romantic. If you can’t figure out how to let love rule with this on in the background, you’ve got bigger walls than China.
Louis The Child won’t bring the string quartet to its HARD Summer performance Saturday, Aug. 4, and there probably won’t be room for strings on stage at Splash House Friday, Aug. 10, but the duo will absolutely drop the bouncy tune as it was originally released.
If you want the overflowing feels, you’ve got to watch the acoustic clip below, posted a day early exclusively on Billboard Dance.
