Galore, the uber-millennial media company that also moonlights as an influencer agency-meets-pop-culture-e-zine, is launching their very own talent-centric lifestyle festival in L.A., to celebrate female empowerment in the beauty, style, music and influencer realms.
Headlined by keynote speaker Tyra Banks and fostered by powerhouse hip-hop and fashion entrepreneur Kimora Lee Simmons, the first-ever GIRLCULT will be an entire day full of media, pop culture and talent-related discussions centered around community empowerment and issues facing the women of Generation Z.
“We yearned to create a music festival [like GIRLCULT] that felt very inclusive to all women, especially with everything going on with women’s rights in today’s climate,” Price Chenoa and Jacob Dekat, Founders, Creative Directors, and Editors-in-Chief of Galore, told Billboard.
As two gay men, Chenoa and Dekat figured that if they, as adults, are feeling pressure to navigate their way through the current political and social climate, then young females — who are facing similar cultural roadblocks — must be as well. “We wanted to give some of our favorite new artists a chance to touch everyone’s souls with their work,” the pair explain. “Each artist will be speaking on topics that are near and dear to them. This festival is the Lilith Fair for Generation Z girls who live in these confusing times.”
And while even GIRLCULT rep Kimora Lee Simmons admits “there’s no shortage of festivals this time of year for young people to gather,” she says this one is different. “My daughter, Ming Lee, and I are both excited to participate in GIRLCULT [because this is] a unique and first-of-its-kind celebration of music, passion and women’s engagement.”
In addition to Lee Simmons’ attendance and Banks’ keynote address, there will be performances throughout the day, by empowering young female artists such as Chloe and Halle, Willow Smith, Sevyn Streeter and more. GIRLCULT will take place at L.A’s Fonda Theatre on August 20 and tickets go on sale July 14 here.
