The best and worst parts of being 20-something are the same. You go out, you dance, you drink, you go home with a stranger, and in the morning, your head aches with experience. It’s par for the course, especially when you’re a pop singer-songwriter like Lorde, or a rising star on the dance music scene, like Whethan.
It’s sensible, then, that Whethan would grab Lorde’s “Perfect Places” up for a remix. It’s a glorious ode to the late-night escapades of youth’s fabulous folly. Whethan turned the party up a few notches with amplified synth melodies and kicking drums. It’s like walking into a bar at full tilt, fully accepting the messy fate that surely awaits.
“I haven’t attempted a remix in a long time,” Whethan says in an emailed statement. “I heard Lorde’s vocal and I immediately wanted to produce a new song around it. This remix felt natural and came to me quickly.”
