John Digweed, eat your heart out. There’s a new king of the marathon set, and his name is DJ Obi. You may not see him pulling a late-night at Space Ibiza, but you will see his name in the next Guinness Book of World Records, because the Nigerian DJ just blew away the competition with an astounding 240-hour, 10-day back-to-back musical bonanza.
According to a report from the BBC, Obi was allowed a five minute break every hour to pee, east, disco nap, and do all that stuff humans have to do to survive. A report from the Guardian says he was given daily medical checks, messages, and a healthy dose of vitamins to help combat the sleep deprivation. No doubt his music selection was getting pretty heady around hour 193.
The rules included caveats that at least one person must remain dancing at all times, and no song could be repeated within four hours time, in which case, here’s to hoping Guinness begins policing music festivals. Obi told BBC that whenever he felt like giving up, he’d think about his late father and find the strength to go on.

“It’s a dream come true,” Obi told BBC, “we’ve done it.”
DJ Obi celebrated by dropping Drake’s “Legend” after crossing the record threshold. He beat the existing record, held by Poland’s Norbert Selmaj, by a solid 40 hours.
