Mean Fiddler Music Group (MFMG) will resurrect its Fleadh festival on June 20 in London. The British promoter canceled the Irish music festival last year, citing a lack of headlining acts.
The event, inaugurated in 1990, will return to its traditional home in Finsbury Park. The lineup will be announced April 5; sources say Bob Dylan will headline this year’s bill. MFMG managing director Melvin Benn declined to comment.
In other news, MFMG has confirmed that Morrissey will play its three-day Reading and Leeds festivals, which begin Aug. 27. The dates will mark Morrissey’s return to the British festival circuit after more than a decade. Other acts on the bill for the August events include the White Stripes, the Darkness, Green Day, the Hives and 50 Cent.
“These shows are the only chance to see Brit Award winners the Darkness and the White Stripes in England and Wales this year, and we expect the festivals to be a tremendous success,” says MFMG chairman Vince Power.
Meanwhile, Faithless, the Thrills, Badly Drawn Boy, Jet and Jamelia have been confirmed to play V Festival 2004. They join previously announced headliners Pixies, the Strokes, Dido and Muse. The festival comprises twin concerts set for Aug. 21-22 in Chelmsford, Essex, and Weston Park, Staffordshire.
