After posting his infamous video from Japan’s “Suicide Forest” earlier this month, YouTuber Logan Paul has returned to post his first video since he apologized for the incident.
Titled Suicide: Be Here Tomorrow, the video follows Paul learning about suicide, which kills about 800,000 people every year. “I know I’ve made mistakes, I know I’ve let people down,” Paul says in the video. “It’s time to learn from the past as I get better and grow as a human being.”
Paul interviews suicide survivor Kevin Hines, Alo House Recovery Center’s Bob Forrest and Dr. John Draper to help learn and inform others about suicide. “I’m here to have a hard conversation, so those who are suffering can have easier ones.”
Paul admits he had never known someone who had died of suicide, which is the second leading cause of death in his own home state of Ohio. “Part of the problem…was just my ignorance on the subject,” Logan tells Forrest.
“We have to change the conversation publicly from just focusing on suicide and how something bad is happening, and say ‘What do we do about it?’” says Dr. Draper, the director of the Suicide Prevention Lifeline.
Paul then goes on to list the five steps to help prevent suicide: ask, listen, be there, help connect and check in.
