It’s safe to say that 2018 has been a trying year for Logan Paul. The YouTube superstar made himself famous — and subsequently infamous — with his daily vlogs, but he announced in a video posted Sunday (Apr. 29) that he will discontinue posting content every day on his channel.
“It is the end of the daily vlog,” Paul explained. “I have done a lot of vlogs every day in a row. And I’m blessed, and I’m thankful, but your boy wants to express his creativity in different ways.”
However, this doesn’t mean Paul’s 17 million subscribers — the “Logang” — are at a total loss. The Internet personality, who initially gained his following on Vine, explained in the lengthy video that although “the vlog life has been absolutely incredible,” he wanted to begin directing his focus in different areas.
“You guys mean the world to me,” Paul addressed his fans. “You are the reason for my success on YouTube, my success in general.”
The vlogger ultimately seemed relieved to be taking a step back from daily videos to venture more into business endeavors and his forthcoming talk show. “I haven’t been this happy in a while,” he added.
Although Paul appears excited to be turning a new leaf, his most controversial vlog to date still looms in the rearview mirror. Earlier this year, the YouTuber took his camera to Japan’s nicknamed “suicide forest,” in which he stumbled upon a hanging body. He received an abundance of backlash for choosing to film the body, and for his all-too-chipper reaction after witnessing it. The video was removed from YouTube, and Paul later uploaded an apology video, followed by a brief hiatus.
