A compilation album culled from live performances on this summer’s ongoing Ozzfest hard rock festival tour, is due Aug. 14 via Divine Recordings/Epic, just two days after the tour’s final show. The 16-track “Ozzfest 2001 – The Second Millennium” set will feature songs by headliners Black Sabbath, as well as Marilyn Manson, Slipknot, Disturbed, Papa Roach, and others.
The track listing for the album is not filled with obvious singles that each band is known for, instead opting for fan favorites and strong performances. For instance, Sabbath will offer up “The Wizard,” while Manson provides “The Love Song,” and Slipknot contributes “New Abortion,” which will also be found on the group’s forthcoming Roadrunner album, “Iowa.”
Also appearing on the album will be tracks by artists who have appeared on the festival’s main and second stages, including Linkin Park, Zakk Wylde’s Black Label Society, Nonpoint, Mudvayne, Drowning Pool, Hatebreed, Systematic, Pure Rubbish, American Head Charge, Union Underground, and Otep.
As previously reported, Black Sabbath’s planned post-Ozzfest tour has been canceled as Epic has demanded that leader Ozzy Osbourne spend that time completing his long-delayed solo album. Due out Oct. 16, the as-yet-untitled set is being produced by Tim Palmer (the Cure, Tears for Fears).
