Live Nation will be handling the ticketing at the Roseland Ballroom beginning in 2009 and running through 2014. Live Nation is the exclusive promoter for the Roseland Ballroom, which hosts more than 100 shows and events which draw over 100,000 fans annually.
In just the past few years, Live Nation and Roseland Ballroom have presented shows by Madonna, Dave Matthews Band, Coldplay and My Bloody Valentine. “With Live Nation Ticketing, the content and ticketing model has changed – I don’t need multiple partners to fill my venue and handle the ticket transaction with the fan,” says Larry Ginsberg, co-owner of Roseland Ballroom, in a statement. “Live Nation and Roseland are the longest-running rock couple on Broadway so it makes perfect sense to trust them as my ticket company.”
Nathan Hubbard, CEO of Live Nation Ticketing calls the Roseland an “important strategic addition to our client portfolio. The fact that Larry has chosen us as Roseland Ballroom’s ticketing partner is another huge validation of our unique position as both a ticket service and content provider.”
In January 2009, Live Nation Ticketing will launch as a full service, in-house ticketing company to manage Live Nation’s ticketing gateway, LiveNation.com, and as a ticketing alternative for third-party venues. The new ticketing platform will allow Live Nation to control customer data, create enhanced ticket-based concert products and capitalize on expanded distribution channels and sponsorship opportunities.
Live Nation announced last month that it entered into an exclusive agreement with venue management company SMG, to sell tickets at North American facilities they control. By 2010 Live Nation estimates it will move more than 13 million of its own tickets annually through its North American ticketing company. The company currently believes that the SMG tickets represent an incremental annual increase of approximately 25% in the overall tickets that will be handled by Live Nation Ticketing.
