Live Nation Entertainment is expanding its activities in Asia through the acquisition of the live entertainment division of PR Worldwide, a leading Malaysia promoter.
The concerts giant has bought a controlling interest in PR Worldwide, LN announced Thursday (Dec. 19). Financial terms were not disclosed.
Formed 20 years ago, PR Worldwide has a long-standing relationship with Live Nation having partnered on tours for the likes of Bruno Mars, Lewis Capaldi, Why Don’t We, LANY, Jim Jeffries and Charlie Puth.
Recognized as one of the prominent live events business in the region, PR Worldwide has produced tours for Ed Sheeran, Mariah Carey, Imagine Dragons, Russell Peters and Shawn Mendes, and brought the Disney On Ice to Asia Pacific.
“Asia continues to be an extremely important region for growth and opportunity for Live Nation,” comments Paul Antonio, president, Live Nation Asia & Middle East in a statement announcing the new deal. By teaming up with PR Worldwide, “we are excited to add yet another market to our Asia Pacific network which enables us to become the leading international concert promoter in Malaysia,” Antonio adds.
Para Rajagopal, founder/CEO of PR Worldwide continues, “Together, we can strengthen Malaysia as one of the major live entertainment destinations while giving both artists and fans the very best live experiences.”
LN has offices in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Seoul, Taipei, Bangkok, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Auckland and Singapore where, earlier this year, the company acquired the promoter One Production. U2 recently played in Singapore and India for the first time on their Joshua Tree Tour, produced by Live Nation.
Also this week, Live Nation Asia launched Live Nation Connects, a new creative marketing agency to connect brands to fans across the region.
