Modern rock act Live has rounded up its greatest hits and music videos for the CD/DVD release “The Best of Live — Awake.” Due Nov. 2 via Radioactive, the collection features 19 songs on CD, including the previously unreleased “We Deal in Dreams,” recorded during sessions for Live’s five-times platinum 1994 breakthrough, “Throwing Copper.”
Other rarities include a cover of Johnny Cash’s “I Walk the Line” and a version of “Run Away” featuring Shelby Lynne, which has been previously unavailable on CD. The disc is rounded out by such modern rock radio evergreens as “I Alone,” “All Over You,” “Lightning Crashes,” “Lakini’s Juice” and “Pain Lies on the Riverside,” plus later career cuts like “Heaven,” “Overcome” and “The Dolphin’s Cry.”
The DVD boats 22 video clips and an album-by-album commentary from lead singer Ed Kowalczyk. Included for the first time here is the previously unseen video for “Ghost,” both versions of the “Turn My Head” video, an alternate cut of “Overcome” and live clips of “Heaven,” “Operation Spirit” and “Pain Lies on the Riverside.”
Live recently wrapped a run of dates in support of its latest studio set, 2003’s “Birds of Pray.” The album debuted at No. 28 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 266,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
