The Foo Fighters are giving moviegoers a great excuse to get the gargantuan bucket of buttered popcorn, with a unique double feature that will hit 80 select theaters across the country on Tuesday (April 5). The movie experience previews the band’s forthcoming album “Wasting Light,” which can be streamed in its entirety below:

First up on the silver screen is “Back and Forth,” the documentary directed by Academy Award winner James Moll (“The Last Days,” “Running The Sahara”) that spans the Foo Fighters’ 16-year career. The documentary chronicles the entire history of the Foo Fighters, from the cassette demos that frontman Dave Grohl recorded during his tenure as Nirvana‘s drummer, to drummer Taylor Hawkins’ 2001 overdose, to the band’s ascent to Grammy award-winning status.

“Personally, I thought it would be a good idea to now tell the story of the last 16 years, so it would make more sense to watch us make a record in a garage,” Grohl told Billboard.com about the movie last month. “After selling out f***ing stadiums and becoming this big rock band, why would you make a garage record? To me the first hour and 20 minutes of the movie is leading up to that moment, where we go from the stadium to the garage… To me that’s the message of the movie.”
Foo Fighters Discuss ‘Back and Forth’ Documentary at SXSW
After the documentary, fans will get to watch the Foo Fighters perform a live concert shot entirely in 3D, in which the group rips through all of “Wasting Light” from a still-undisclosed location. Tickets for the double feature, which will only run on Tuesday night, can be purchased here.
“Wasting Light,” the group’s follow-up to 2007’s “Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace,” will hit stores on April 12 through Roswell/RCA. The album’s first single, “Rope,” is currently perched at No. 1 on the Rock Songs chart.
