Welcome to #TBT Mixtape, Billboard’s new series that showcases artists’ very own throwback-themed playlists exclusive to Billboard’s Spotify account. The curated set features the artists’ favorite tracks from their youth and childhood.
This week’s spin comes from Minneapolis-based electronic quintet Poliça and European orchestral collective s t a r g a z e. The two groups recently released their politically-charged collaborative LP Music for the Long Emergency, via Totally Gross National Product, and set out on a short U.S. tour.
Today, they share this week’s #TBT Mixtape, comprised of the tunes that soundtracked the recent North American jaunt.
“This is a playlist of music we compiled and listened to on our recent wonderful drive from Boston to MASS MoCA in North Adams, Massachusetts,” Poliça’s Channy Leaneagh shares. “These songs represent the various personalities of our bands and music, and a glimpse at the various musical backgrounds we come from. Smash these songs together and it might sounds sort of like Polica. Probably not though. Play it in your stereo, your crew’ll go apeshit.”
Give the set a spin and also check out some retro snaps of the groups below.
