If the truth about Elmo didn’t totally ruin your childhood for you, don’t worry — we’re here to finish the job.
Lately the Internet (Mylo the Cat in particular) has been excelling at creating hysterically inappropriate lip syncs to kids’ shows.
From Doug Funnie rapping about making drugs a la Fetty Wap to Bert and Ernie regulating, these videos put words in the mouths of puppets and cartoon characters that they could never dare utter on PBS/Fox/Nickelodeon/Disney.
But this trend isn’t new. People have been making genius tweaks to videos of Barney & Friends and Sesame Street for well over a decade — in fact, one of the classics (Kermit the Frog doing N.W.A) actually dates back to the days of VHS.
Below, these are some of our absolute favorites. Be warned: Your childhood memories may never be the same.
Honorable Mention: Sesame Street‘s The Count Reveals His True Passion: “—-ing”
