21-year-old U.K. hip-hop sensation Lily Allen made her first U.S. appearance last night (Oct. 11) at New York’s Hiro Ballroom. Appearing with a three-piece horn section, bassist and keyboardist, Allen blasted through an eight-song set in just under a half hour.
The highly lauded artist was shy and timid at first, but midway through the set became visibly more comfortable in the intimate space. She previewed material from her forthcoming release, “Alright, Still,” as well as the tongue-in-cheek “Nan, You’re a Window Shopper,” a take off 50 Cent’s “Window Shopper.”
Allen continues her U.S. tour this week, hitting San Francisco, Los Angeles and Chicago before returning to the United Kingdom for a string of shows through November. As previously reported, last month she issued the digital-only “Smile,” ahead of Capitol’s Jan. 30 release of her debut.
Here is Lily Allen’s set list:
“LDN”
“Nan, You’re a Window Shopper”
“Shame For You”
“Knock Em Out”
“Littlest Things”
“Friday Night”
“Smile”
“Alfie”
