Following T-Pain‘s crazy-crowded performance at the Sun Stage on Sunday (Aug. 20) at the Billboard Hot 100 Fest, Lil Yachty hit the stage and delivered a booming set to a crowd primarily made up of fans born after the year 2000.
Much like he’d done at Lollapalooza earlier this year, Yachty directed the crowd to form a mosh pit — but considering there was nonstop dancing during his set anyway, he really didn’t need to. (Among those dancing: T-Pain and Bella Thorne were both busting a move side stage during his performance.)
In addition to the star power side stage, Yachty brought out A$AP Ferg for “Work,” “New Level” and “Minnesota.” Even though that Midwest-referencing song and “One Night” are his most recognizable tracks, the crowd was freaking out throughout the set thanks to his lengthy list of features on other viral hits, from Kyle’s “iSpy” to D.R.A.M.‘s “Broccoli.”
Of all the day 2 performers, Lil Boat’s crowd may have been the most enthusiastic, wiling out and making out. And a great deal of that credit goes to Yachty — even when he’s just standing onstage laughing, he makes the crowd feel like they’re part of the party. And for a mostly teenage crowd facing the impending return of school, they clearly relished that last chance to rage.
