Lil Xan stopped to speak with Billboard’s Chelsea Briggs at the Hot 100 Festival on Saturday (Aug. 18), chatting about his dedicated fanbase, how he handles critics and drops some hints about his new album.
Speaking of his fans, Lil Xan notes that he loves having a “cult fanbase,” adding, “I love my fans to death. Never deny a fan a picture, they know that. Xanarchy is like one big family…It’s a brand, it’s a lifestyle.”
Asked why he thinks his music resonates so strongly with his fans, the rapper says that it is because his music is so unique. “All those haters, they don’t understand my music,” he says. “It’s very unique. And I don’t blame them. Hate my music. But my real cult fanbase, they like the music…I can’t compare myself to any artist.”
Lil Xan is also asked how he handles his haters, to which he responds, “It’s really not that hard to deal from it from the 25th floor of my condo, so it’s really not hard while they’re working at McDonald’s.”
Additionally, Lil Xan chats about new music, including his upcoming project Baby Blue Subaru. He reveals that there are five features on it – all female – one being his “baby” Noah Cyrus and the other being Billie Eilish.
“It’s an evolution,” he says of the new music. “All my albums are evolutions, one on top of the other. I just wanna keep evolving as an artist to show these motherfuckers that I’m here to stay, I’m not just gonna leave.”
He also divulges that his favorite track of the bunch is called “Midnight In Prague.” You can hear a preview of that song and more in the video above.
