After Young Thug revealed his new mixtape was called Carter 6 and featured a cover shot of him standing naked, a sizable portion of the hip-hop world freaked out. There were those who started foaming at the mouth with homophobic rage, and there were those who simply thought Thug was disrespecting Weezy by titling his mixtape Carter 6 while Wayne’s Tha Carter V remains in hellish limbo while Wayne sues Cash Money Records.
So it was only a matter of time before Wayne commented on the situation. Unsurprisingly, he’s not happy.
“I want y’all to do me a favor and stop listening to n—-s that pose naked on their motherfucking album cover,” Wayne told a crowd in Jackson, Miss. Watch it below.
Young Thug revealed Carter 6 will be released on April 17. Thug told MTV News in September that he’ll be releasing albums “Carter VI to X.” “He did I to V, I’m gonna do VI to X,” he said about Wayne. While Thug aimed to pay homage to Weezy by naming his album after his “idol,” some didn’t see it that way.
Fans took to Thugger’s Instagram to express their frustration over the album title and that it’ll be arriving before Weezy’s Tha Carter V. “He could never be Wayne this is assault [sic],” @stro_bdb wrote. “Coming out with the Carter 6 makes yuh look like a follower That’s lil Wayne style nd always has been y’all doing to much for the media [sic]” – @ladiee__23 added. “Thuggee has bangers but he still doesn’t compare to Wayne period. No credit can be given for stealing another man at period.” – @doshthegod wrote.
Long story short, if you want to stay on Weezy’s good side, don’t name your album after his signature series. Although to be honest, it would be pretty awesome and ballsy if Thug’s next mixtape was titled I Am Not a Human Being III.
